Maricela Mata: Early Childhood Educator with a passion for teaching children since 1998. Busy Bees was born at the moment that my first child was born. I really loved being the educator of my 2 own children at a home-school environment for 12 years spending time with them and at the same time working with other children and families. Teaching at home was a delightful experience for me and my family.
I enjoy listening to music, I grew up in a family of musicians (father, uncles, brothers and cousins are part of a Mariachi band) and I believe that music is important in a Montessori curriculum because musical training increases brain volume and strengthens communication between brain areas specially for children before the age of 6 years old.
I also like to visit the city of Chicago and explore the aquarium, planetarium, field museum, art museum, science museum, the zoo, I enjoy going to the theater for any music concert or drama show and art. I believe that education and learning never stops and visiting these places helps you to be on track of the past and future, also you can learn from your students, children can give you new lessons every time; you can continue learning from every new generation.
I learned about the Montessori philosophy since I was in college and then in 2012 I decided to become a Montessori Educator. Since then I fell in love with Maria Montessori's Method of teaching. I like how we can instruct children to learn by themselves by allowing them the opportunity to be independent of their own learning. I also like to look at myself in the mirror because they are always looking at you and because they want to learn from you and they will be that reflection of you.
As an administrator, I always make sure that every family is safe and that we are helping them with the foundation of the education of future generations.
Thank you,
Maricela Mata
